A case would be a great asset to this product, but I got it at a great price, so I guess I could buy one. The shipping box was terrible. The product was partially falling out. Very sturdy, holds heavier music books well and tripod feet provide a very stable foundation . A bit more effort is needed to adjust height, but this is ok as the height then stays very nicely after adjustment (no sinking!). All parts are adjustable (Height, legs can go completely flat, and the stand pivots). It seems really heavy duty, and anticipate it will last a long time. I am really glad I paid $20 more than those flimsy wire stands (I have probably 5 sitting at home, worthless). The review about the plastic parts smelling a bit out of the box seemed correct. It caught me off guard as soon as I started assembling it, but it completely dissipated in several hours for me, and now there aren't any unpleasant odors.
